Twenty minutes away from the coast, the small, peaceful village of San Martino di Lota looks out over the sea and beyond to the small island of Elba, Napoleon’s island of exile. This 20 room, family run hotel is an ideal resting place for any keen walker, indeed the owner himself has planned a route up to a hillside refuge about 1.5 hour’s walk away. Equally, it is a perfect retreat and Bastia is only 20 minutes drive.
Corsican specialities are prepared with extreme care and pride and served by casual but attentive waiters. You may either eat in the traditionally decorated restaurant or outside on the terrace where a perfect evening can be spent. Once the sun has completely disappeared, the only light left to see is that from the medieval church of San Martino di Lota, which is lit up in the darkness.
This is truly a hotel where one can sample all the delights of Corsica: the fantastic views of the sea and the mountains behind, village life and Corsican delicacies. The owner runs his hotel with great pride and will give you any advice you might need on the area.
