L’Alivi is a comfortable, relatively modern hotel situated 1km north of Bastia with wonderful sea views east from the bedrooms all of which have en-suite bathrooms and a sea facing balcony. There is a delightful pool area with restaurant on its side for lunch and dinner; fresh local cuisine is served in minimalist chic with magnificent views. You have the advantage of being about 20 minutes by foot or a short drive into the bustling town of Bastia with its busy ferry port, large leafy squares, ancient narrow streets, many shops and the charming old port with its boats, yachts and selection of waterside restaurants. At the same time the hotel is far enough away to be a peaceful haven where you can sit on your sunlounger on the large pool terrace with its bar, and gaze out over the blue Mediterranean towards the island of Elba in complete tranquillity.
This is also a wonderful spot from which to explore the very beautiful and wild area of Cap Corse, probably one of the most dramatic and unspoilt parts of the island. The beautiful little hamlet of Erbalunga, known for being the haunt of artists and for its fish restaurants, is only 10–15 minutes drive; and the wonderfully quaint port of Centuri right up in the north of the Cap, with its tremendous selection of fish restaurants, is about an hour away by car.
