New to our programme for 2009 is this delightful villa in a quiet area located just outside one of the prettiest villages in Corsica, Monticello. The views from the pool of the mountains and surrounding countryside evoke a feeling of peace and serenity, a perfect spot to idle away the sunny afternoons. Incorporating traditional building skills with modern touches, this villa offers exceptional quality and an eco-friendly air-cooling system throughout the property.
Only a short walk away is a local pizzeria restaurant called La Rusta and just 5 minutes drive, in the lovely village of Monticello which has a 16thC olive mill, is the excellent restaurant Pasturella which has a varied menu and stunning views.
Ile Rousse is only 6km from the villa and is a delightful seaside town. It has numerous small cobbled streets with restaurants and boutiques, and a charming central square surrounded by small bars and restaurants in which you can relax and admire the locals showing off their skills at boules. There are some excellent fish restaurants such as U Libecciu all with outside dining, some overlooking the sea. The wide sandy beach at Ile Rousse is perfect for sunbathing and swimming; alternatively only 15 minutes drive along the coast is the equally beautiful bay of Lozari. You can also go on local boat trips; or if you want, hop aboard the quaint local train which meanders along the coast as far as Calvi. Heading inland are some spectacular mountain villages on the Route Des Artisans such asPignaand for a refreshing dip, go to Feliceto for a swim in the River Regino.
